I naively thought I was too good a driver to rear end someone, that I would be alert enough and maintain enough distance to not do this. Apparently not. Glare on the brake lights of a red car, combined with too close of a distance on a brick road meant stopping just didn’t happen.
No one is hurt thankfully. The other
car is virtually unharmed.

You learned a lesson and didn’t get hurt learning it... that’s a win for the day. You’ll have another day to apply the lesson . Good on you for admitting it.
I’ve never driven on a brick road, so I’ll keep your lesson to heart as well when I do.

I really hope that isn’t expensive. It looks like a simple bumper replacement for a few hundred. We’re all imperfect humans, but it still sucks to be reminded of it.

I hope you’re right. I got popped in the rear end in my old Golf, and while there was no visible damage, the rear tires were never able to be aligned again. The Chrysler 300 who hit me was not so lucky.
Glad everybody’s okay.

Glad you’re okay - as they say, live and learn.
I have been on the other end of this - as in I was rear-ended by a Solara. It was enough to total my ‘03 Crown Vic though, yours in much better shape than his was.

We all do a dumb now and then. I’ve learned from mine. And it was painful, this t ruck was nearly perfect before I rear ended a Volvo.

Think positively! While you’re fixing your hood, it’s a perfect time to also scrap the engine & put a 2JZ in it.

Well actually, I prob will get it painted. I really want a Solara in Solar Yellow. Why they didn’t make one in that color isn’t beyond me.

Damn, glad you are OK...surprised the Soul isn’t mode damaged...you sure the rear floor isn’t buckled under there?
Hopefully you can find parts to get your Solara back into decent shape!
